Room in Roof Insulation
Why insulate?
A quarter of heat is lost through the roof in an uninsulated home. Insulating your room in roof is an effective way to reduce heat loss and reduce your heating bills.
What is it?
For homes with habitable rooms, like bedrooms, in the roof space, insulation can be added from the inside. This involves installing thick insulated plasterboard over the existing walls and ceiling. Once in place, the room is plastered, ready to be decorated.
What about disruption?
Room-in-roof insulation will cause some distruption, as all fixtures and fittings on the external surfaces must be removed to fit the insulation boards. These will be re-fitted or replaced once the work is complete, including plastering. It is important to note that the insulation boards are approximately 60-100mm thick, which will reduce the room size slightly.
How long does it take to install?
The installation time will depend on the size of the room in roof.
What will it cost me?
If you are an owner-occupier and meet the grant criteria, then it will cost you absolutely nothing. The grant will cover the complete cost of the installation.
Where’s the catch?
There isn’t one. Any enquiry you make will be without obligation, you don’t have to have the work done until you are completely happy with the plan.
This programme is funded through the Department of Energy Security & Net Zero and administered on behalf of Norfolk Councils by Broadland and South Norfolk Councils.
